This book, based on the class room teaching experience, has been divided into thee parts deemed convenient to the student community to wich it is primarily adressed. Part-I ,the most important discusses about the Rules, Facet Formulae, Subject Analysis, etc. To tell the users as to from where the isolates in each Facet are to be obtained. Each rules of CC-6 is explained with suitable examples in order to make it understandable. Another feature of this manual is that "Solved Examples" follow the discussion for evry Main Class included in CC-6. To provided the students with the opportunity for practice, an "Exercise for Practic" has been added in each Chapter. This book includes about one thousand solved examples for practice, answers to which have ben provided at the end. The basic theoritical concept of CC-6 required essentially to understand the rules, have been explained in part-II.It includes such topics as Fundamental Categories, common Isolates Devices, Phase Relation, among othor, and are suitably illustrated. Efforts have been made to clarify the concepts in simple language with a view to understand the Indian scheme, cnsidered one of the scientific classification system in the world.

Dr. Sewa Singh is currently working as Reader in the Department of Library and Information Science, Guru Nanak Dev University. He has been a practising Librarian and Teacher of library and Information Science for more than two decades and half. During this period, he has contributed thirteen books and about. He has been regularly contributing to the professional journals, seminars conferences, etc. He has been on the Editorial Board of Indian Journal of Information Library and Society,Indian Library Movement. Library Progress (International) Presently he is the Vice- President of the Indian Library Association, and ex-Vice President of IASLIC (Calcutta). He is the Life Member of the Indian Library Association, Indian Association of Special Libaries and Information Centres, Indian Association Science Society for Information Science., Association of Government Libraries. He is also a member of the International Society for Knowledge Organization (Germay) He has been listed in such biographical sources as Dictionary of International Biography (England) ; Maquis' Who's Who (USA); Roster of Information Scientists; Reference Asia, Who's Who of Teachers of Library and Information Science; India Who's who (INFA) among others.
