The book, containing Depth Schedules for Indian Philosophy and Indian Religions, is an indispensible tool for those librarians and bibliographers who use or desire to use Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) but find the scheme inadequate for these two subjects. The schedules are useful for classifying sourcebooks & scriptures in particular. There can be no two opinions regarding the fact that provision in (DDC) is inadequate for these two subjects. On the other hand (DDC) is the most popular scheme in India and othe countries. The Indological librarians, therefore, are in a quandry about what to do : they can neither abandon (DDC) nor adopt it satisfactorily. This work will certainly help them to resolve their dilemma. This work is distinctly different from the authors' earlier work entitled DC for Indology which, besides being a thesis for Ph. D. degree, was an attempt to prepare Phoenix Schedules ( i. e. freely constructed schedules, essentially not retaining the numbers assigned in DDC). On the contrary the present work contains depth Schedules on these two subjects and essentially retains all the numbers assigned in DDC.
