G.J. Narayana received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Mysore, Karnataka. He had his early library education at the Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. He took his Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Bombay and Ph.D. from University of Poona.

He has over thirty years of varied experience, which includes research, teaching and management in the fields of education, libraries, information and knowledge. He retired as Head (Scientist E), Knowledge Centre, Aeronautical Development Establishment (DRDO), Bangalore.

        He has published several papers in reputed national and international journals and four books. He also taught Management Science, at post-graduate level, at the Department of Library and Information Science, University of Poona.

        He is a Senior Fulbright scholar. He received “Scientist of the Year Award: 1984” from the Government of India in recognition of his contributions to defence R&D in the area of information and training.
