The main focus of this book is to give
theoretical and practical information to the information managers about
information technology and their applications in the library operations and
services. The book addresses on the varied aspects of information technology,
computer technology, library management software packages, library automation
and computer networks. The authors strongly believe that the book will be
useful to library and information students and professionals engaged in
information management.

Devarajan is a senior professional who has about
35 years of experience in the field of Library and Information Science. He did
his M.A in Russian Language and Literature from University of Kerala and
M.L.I.S from the University of Madras securing first rank with distinction. He
also secured Ph.D in Library and Information Science from the University of
Kerala. No he is doing post-doctoral research leading to D.Litt in Library and
Information Science in the University of Kerala. He has completed four research
projects financed by the ICSSR and UGC. He has produced 17 Ph.Ds in Library and
Information Science.
Prof.
Devarajan has served as the Dean, Faculty of Arts, Member of the Senate and
Member of the Syndicate , University of Kerala. He has authored/edited 28 books
and published more than 200 articles in the field of Library and Information
Science. He was former Professor & Head, Department of Library and
Information Science, Emeritus Fellow and Director, College Development Council,
University of Kerala

Ravindran Asari obtained his M.L.I.Sc from University of
Mysore with first rank and he was awarded the Ranganathan Memorial Gold Medal.
Besides a retired University Librarian of Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala he
was also the founder Head of the Department of Library and Information Science
and Head of the department of Medical Documentation of University. He has
authored eight books and more than one hundred articles in the field of Library
and Information Science and Information technology.
