Libraries are undergoing a metamorphosis. The changing information landscapes call for redesigning the collection, organization, and dissemination of information in libraries. The Covid-19 pandemic has forced the libraries and information centers to chalk out new strategies to serve their patrons in a better way. Library and Information Services has embraced several other disciplines to repurpose and diversify the services. Transformation of traditional libraries into hybrid libraries, adoption of technology, usage
of various devices, and integrating technology to provide value-added services prompt the LIS community to study the situations and draw valuable conclusions to move forward. The libraries from reading and learning spaces are becoming ‘happening’ places where the patrons can interact and have discussions.
In this context, an International Online Conference was organized as a part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the C. H. Mohammed Koya Library, University of Calicut, during 24-25 February, 2021, in collaboration with IFLA, the apex body in the library & information field. The theme of the conference was “Transformation of the library ecosystem: Terrains and Trajectories.” The purpose of the conference was to survey the impact of the changing information landscapes on library services and the role of libraries as an active player and a catalyst in information management in the new normal world.
The conference’s focus was to leverage libraries towards rediscovering library services’ spirit and diversifying into new areas. While ICT can bring dramatic changes and transform user behavior, the conference proposed to discuss and solve the issues of Libraries with a focus that supports not only information seeking and discovery but also user engagement by offering them customized services. This volume contains 31 papers on various facets of the theme of the conference like transformation of libraries, Digital governance, digital library, Open Access Scholarship, HRM, Research ethics, and Information terrains contributed by practicing library professionals, Library and Information Science teachers, researchers, scientists and students.
