Library and information systems are knowledge sources, which determine the quality and relevance of the development activities of the community they serve. The role of the library professional is to organize knowledge collections and facilitate access to text, sound and images from a wide variety of sources, often in the context of one-stop-shopping scenario. In the present networked society, the access is to be organized by usingdifferent methods. Information available in-house and elsewhere is to be pooled manually and digitally to provide context-based services. Computer and communications technologies have enormous potential for managing information and making it retrievable and accessible in time.

Dr. R. Raman Nair has Masters in Library and Information Science from Banaras Hindu University and PhD in Agricultural Informatics from University of Kerala. Has associated with OA projects of Kerala Legislative Assembly, and Mahatma Gandhi University Online PhD Theses. Was a member of the UGC National Committee on Submission and Access to Electronic Theses and Dissertations in Universities in

India. Represents India in Editorial Board of E-LIS (Rome). Organized many national/ international workshops on ICT under Ministries of Science and Technology, Agriculture and Culture under Government of India. Has numerous publications to his credit and was honored with SM Ganguly National Award in 1998.

Dr K J John has over three decades of experience in teaching, research, curriculum development and

publication. A PhD in English from Nagpur University, he has successfully guided 10 doctoral research

scholars. Serving on the Board of Studies and Arts Faculty, he worked on different syllabus committees,

especially of Communicative English. Currently, Dr John teaches courses on Managerial Communication

and Soft Skills to MBA Students of Toc H Institute of Science and Technology. As Professor in-charge,

he oversees the overall function of TIST Libraries.

 

Mr. Sreekumar N., is a post graduate in Library and Information science, was educated at Annamalai

University and Mahatma Gandhi University. Has organized a few conferences and workshops on library

and information Science and has about two decades experience in academic library systems. Is presently

Chief Librarian in Toc H Institute of Science & Technology, Arakkunnam.
