Concise Computer Encyclopaedia of Library and Information Science

Librarians in India, particularly those who donot have a sound computer background, are finding it more and more important to know someting about computes. This has been there for sveral years, but it is becoming more and more apparent every day as one sees increasing use of computar in more and more libraries. Librarians are, however, not essentially supposed to be programmers, similarly as classifiers are not essentially supposed to be classificationists. Librarians without computer background are therefore generally interested in knowing only as much of the computer as is necessary for inculcating computer culture in libraries, and for using computers effectively in library work. The book is hence as attempt to acquaint a librarian with the common technical terms, concepts and activities of computer work and computerized activities in libraries. It endeavours to explain in brief and simple language all relevant aspects of computing from its history to its use in libraries.
